It's been almost two weeks already that we've been
here in Seattle. I'm not quite sure how that happened. In addition to working
hard unpacking and getting our boat the way we want, we've been having fun
exploring our neighborhood. We've been out Kayaking quite a few times. It's
a lot different than the kayaking we'd been doing in Wisconsin. Lots of big
boats everywhere, but we've been wearing our life jackets and staying out
of the way of the traffic.
On
Sunday, there is a farmers market just a couple blocks up the street.
A
couple days ago we headed out to explore a bit of the countryside. We started
with a ferry ride out of downtown Seattle, over to Bainbridge Island, which
is out in Puget Sound. We then headed north a bit, and ended up in Port Townsend,
where we stumbled into a state park with a nice beach, a lighthouse and an
old fort. The fort was built in 1909-1910 and used to have giant cannons that
could fire 8 miles out into the sound.
And
this is just a cute little spider that was on our deck.
Thanks for looking, and I hope you saw something you enjoyed.
